AMC slashes rent for Happy Street food stalls
April 12, 2025
Ahmedabad: In an attempt to revive the vibrant atmosphere of Happy Street and support local vendors, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has slashed the monthly rent for food stalls on Law Garden road.
Responding to repeated appeals from stall owners struggling with rising operational costs, the AMC has reduced the rent by ₹10,000 — bringing it down from ₹25,000 to ₹15,000 per month. Currently, 37 food stalls are operating in the area.
In addition to these existing stall holders, new vendors will also be allotted stalls through a tender process. Happy Street was originally developed by AMC in 2019 with over 30 food stalls.”The area was later converted into a pay-and-park facility, which led the stall owners to file a petition in the High Court. But now, Happy Street is likely to regain its former fervour. DeshGujarat
