After unveiling SpaceTech Policy, Gujarat plans satellite launchpad in Kutch or Dholera

Gandhinagar: Gujarat became the first state in the country to launch a dedicated SpaceTech Policy last week. With the policy announced, the state is now planning to establish a satellite launchpad to support upcoming space missions. For this, Kutch and Dholera have emerged as prime locations.
Given the technical complexities and regulatory requirements involved in setting up such infrastructure, the state will work closely with the central government, ISRO, and other national agencies to ensure compliance and smooth execution.
The initiative is particularly significant because In-SPACe, India’s single-window agency promoting private participation in the space sector, is headquartered in Ahmedabad. In-SPACe has expressed interest in the project, which aligns with its mission of providing access to space infrastructure for private players and supporting innovation in the sector.
Officials added that Gujarat’s new space policy provides both financial and logistical support for the full range of space-related industries—from satellite component manufacturing to the development of control centres and ground stations. The government believes that establishing launchpads will further enhance the state’s role in India’s rapidly evolving space ecosystem. DeshGujarat
