Gandhinagar: Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Union government has ordered the cancellation of visas issued to Pakistani nationals. Accordingly, around 438 Pakistani nationals living in Gujarat will be deported.

According to the Home Department, 438 Pakistani nationals currently reside in Gujarat on long-term visas—77 in Ahmedabad, 50 in Kutch, and 44 in Surat. Additionally, seven are on short-term visas, with five in Ahmedabad and one each in Bharuch and Vadodara. Among these Pakistani nationals, 29 are residing in Gandhinagar district, including in the city itself as well as in Kalol, Mansa, and Dehgam.

After a high-level meeting with officials, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday instructed all chief ministers to promptly remove Pakistani citizens from their respective states. Now, a large-scale deportation drive has been initiated to ensure these individuals are sent back without delay. The Gujarat government has deployed teams from the ATS and SOG to ensure timely enforcement of the directive.

Meanwhile, a 71-year-old woman from Bharuch, Shahida Bibi, who was staying on a short-term visa, has already been deported via the Attari border, signaling a firm start to the government’s action. DeshGujarat
