₹61 crore MGNREGA scam unearthed in 3 villages of Dahod
April 26, 2025
Dahod: A massive scam under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) has come to light in Dahod district, where irregularities worth ₹61 crore were detected in just three villages of Devgadhbaria and Dhanpur talukas. Following the revelations, the Director of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Balwantbhai Merjibhai Patel, filed a complaint, creating a stir across the district.
According to the complaint registered at Dahod City B Division Police Station, several public works in Kuva and Redhana villages of Devgadhbaria taluka, and Seemamoi village of Dhanpur taluka, were found incomplete during inspections conducted between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2024. Despite the incomplete work, payments were made by producing false completion certificates and fabricated evidence.
The complaint alleges a criminal conspiracy involving ineligible agencies and government officers/employees, who colluded to siphon off government funds. Forged documents were created and used for personal financial gain, causing significant financial losses to the government.
The Dahod police have registered a case and launched a vigorous investigation, with efforts underway to arrest the accused. The case has triggered widespread concern across the district.
