Indian Coast Guard advises Gujarat fishermen to return to shore amid changing weather forecast
May 03, 2025
Porbandar: The Indian Coast Guard has issued a warning to fishermen in Gujarat, urging them to return to shore immediately in light of an approaching change in weather. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a rainfall forecast for the coming days, and in order to enhance maritime safety, Coast Guard vessels broadcasted alerts through loudspeakers to those heading out to sea.
The advisory seeks to minimize risks and accidents, highlighting the need to prioritize safety amid unfavorable weather. Fishermen are strongly advised to stay ashore until further updates are provided.
Meanwhile, in another development, the Indian Navy has also intensified its presence in the North Arabian Sea amid ongoing tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack. Earlier, the Navy had issued four green notifications for firing in a coastal area off the Gujarat coast, just 85 nautical miles from the region where Pakistan was conducting naval drills in the Arabian Sea. It is now learnt that a warning has been issued by the Indian Hydrographic Office stating that a military exercise involving live firing by Indian Navy ships and aircraft will take place off the coast of Porbandar, India, in the Arabian Sea. Ships are advised to avoid the area during this period for safety.
Amidst these developments, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this evening at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence; the same day, Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also met with the PM. DeshGujarat
