Ahmedabad: Civilian flight operations at 32 airports across India, including eight in Gujarat, have been temporarily suspended until the morning of May 15. As a result, several flights to and from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) in Ahmedabad have been cancelled. On Sunday alone, 18 flights were cancelled, affecting both arrivals and departures. The impacted routes included connections between Ahmedabad and Najaf (NJF), Jammu (IXJ), Jodhpur (JDH), Srinagar (SXR), Bhuj (BHJ), Amritsar (ATQ), Chandigarh (IXC) and Kishangarh (KQH).
In Gujarat, the airports affected by the NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued during India-Pak tensions include Bhuj, Jamnagar, Kandla, Keshod, Mundra, Rajkot, Porbandar, and Naliya.
Airlines have responded with passenger-friendly measures. Air India issued a travel advisory offering a one-time waiver on rescheduling fees and full refunds for cancelled tickets. The airline confirmed that flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Bhuj, Jamnagar, and Rajkot will remain suspended until 5:29 AM IST on May 15, pending further updates.
IndiGo also released a statement pledging full assistance to affected passengers. The airline announced waivers on change and cancellation fees for bookings during this period and encouraged travelers to rebook through nearby operational airports without additional charges. Plans to operate relief flights for stranded customers are underway, with further details expected soon.
Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for the latest schedule updates and rescheduling options. DeshGujarat
