AMC to Set Up 21 MW Wind Power Plant Worth Rs. 213 Crore
June 05, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated a tender process for the installation, commissioning, and operation of a 21 MW wind power plant, valued at Rs. 213.78 crores (approx). The project aims to increase the share of renewable energy in AMC’s electricity consumption, in line with the Gujarat Government’s new policies.
Currently, AMC operates a 20 MW (+/-10%) wind power plant under a 20-year SITC (Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning) agreement. Alongside this, AMC is managing 10 years of O&M (Operations & Maintenance) service, including the first year free of O&M charges. This new project will follow a similar model, with a 20-year lifespan and an estimated payback period of 5 to 6 years.
The 21 MW wind power plant will be established at Jamjodhpur. The civic body estimates that the project will produce around 59.4 million units of renewable energy annually, generating approximately Rs. 28.14 crores in value each year. Moreover, this initiative is expected to reduce the carbon footprint by an estimated 54,648 tons annually.
The new tender includes not only SITC but also 10 years of O&M, lease rent, and other associated costs, with all activities carried out under a comprehensive contract. DeshGujarat
