PM Modi in Ahmedabad following fatal Air India plane crash

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ahmedabad this morning in the wake of the tragic Air India AI-171 flight crash that claimed the lives of 241 people, including 12 crew members, on board on Thursday.
After landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, the Prime Minister visited the crash site in the Meghaninagar area of the city. Later, he is expected to meet individuals who were injured in the crash.
A Boeing 787 Dreamliner (AI-171), with 242 people on board, crashed into a medical college complex in Meghaninagar shortly after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday afternoon.
One person survived the tragedy, while 241 others, including 168 Indians, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian, were killed. The passengers also included former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani, who also died in the incident.
Following the crash, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu visited the crash site on Thursday to oversee rescue and relief operations. They later met with injured individuals at the Civil Hospital campus.
Meanwhile, Air India has announced a compensation of ₹1 crore for the families of each victim of the crash. DeshGujarat
