June 20, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today trapped a Class 3 Talati-cum-Mantri of Jakhwada Gram Panchayat office, Viramgam, Ahmedabad, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
The accused has been identified as Kashmiraben D/o Bhanudas Makwana, holding the position of Talati-cum-Minister at the Jakhwada Gram Panchayat Office. The trap was laid today, June 20, 2025, at the Panchayat office itself.
The incident unfolded after a vigilant citizen, who wished to obtain a birth certificate for his daughter, approached the Jakhwada Gram Panchayat office approximately fifteen days ago. Upon meeting Kashmiraben, the complainant requested the birth certificate. It was then that the accused allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 to process the certificate. When the complainant expressed their inability to arrange such a sum immediately, Kashmiraben reportedly told them to arrange the money and visit the Panchayat office again.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant contacted the ACB today. Acting on the complaint, the ACB promptly organized a trap. During the operation, Kashmiraben was caught red-handed accepting the demanded Rs 20,000 bribe. The entire amount was successfully recovered from the accused at the scene.
The trapping operation was led by Mr. N.N. Jadhav, Police Inspector, Ahmedabad Rural ACB Police Station. The entire operation was supervised by Mr. N.N. Jadhav, In-Charge Assistant Director, ACB Ahmedabad Unit, Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
