June 26, 2025
Bhuj: The Kutch Carnival will be organized on June 27 on the banks of Hamirsar Lake in Bhuj to celebrate the Kutch New Year, Ashadhi Bij. A total of 64 groups from across the district will enthusiastically participate in the event. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will inaugurate the Kutch Carnival at 6 PM. The entire carnival route has been decorated with pavilions and lights, while government buildings near the venue and city traffic circles have also been illuminated.
Member of Parliament Vinod Chavda said the Kutch Carnival, part of the Ashadhi Bij celebrations, will commence at 6 PM from Khengar Park and conclude near Umaid Nagar, covering a distance of 2.5 km. Along this route, pavilions have been set up, and the trees along the lakeside have been adorned with decorative lights. He added that people are showing great enthusiasm for the celebrations and invited residents to witness the carnival.
More than 2,500 artists representing 64 groups—including social organizations, youth groups, caste associations, women’s groups, and students from schools and colleges—will perform on various Kutch-themed topics. These include patriotic themes, Operation Sindoor, Kutch’s social organizations, cultural heritage, tourism, industry, cleanliness, and more, presented through floats and tableaux.
All groups have been rehearsing at different locations over the past ten days. On Thursday, some also conducted rehearsals along the actual carnival route on the banks of Hamirsar Lake. The Chief Minister’s participation has further boosted the morale of the performers and heightened excitement among the people of Kutch.
A stage for the Chief Minister has been set up near Lakeview, with seating arrangements on both sides of the route for the public. The carnival will begin at 6 PM and continue until 9 PM.
Earlier, from the inception of Rannotsav until 2013, the Kutch Carnival was held annually in Bhuj, often attended by then-Chief Minister and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the event was discontinued for several years. Following PM Modi’s recent public meeting in Bhuj, the carnival has been revived, generating widespread enthusiasm. Various organizations, youth and caste-based groups, students, and industrial associations across Kutch have expressed active interest in the event. DeshGujarat
