Traffic diversion announced in Ahmedabad for Bullet Train, Metro, and station revamp work
July 04, 2025
Ahmedabad: The city and traffic police on Wednesday announced traffic diversions in three areas of Ahmedabad due to ongoing infrastructure projects — the Bullet Train, Kalupur railway station redevelopment, and the construction of a metro station at Kankaria.
Amid construction work for the Bullet Train corridor in the city, from July 18 to August 10, the Girdharnagar bridge will remain closed. Commuters can instead travel from Kalupur to the Asarwa bridge and turn left towards Civil Hospital. Those coming from Shahibaug are advised to use the Kalka Mata Mandir route via Civil Hospital to reach Asarwa or Kalupur.
Another diversion is in place for the elevated corridor pillar work at Kalupur railway station, where a 50-metre road stretch has been shut since May 1. Initially scheduled to reopen on August 31, the closure is now extended till September 30. Vehicles from Sarangpur Circle can use Revadi Bazaar and BBC Market roads to reach Reed Hotel, then proceed either towards the railway station or Kalupur Circle. Those heading from Kalupur Circle can use the one-way road towards the station and then continue to Sarangpur.
Furthermore, between July 3 and September 30, underground metro station (west) construction will be underway at Kankaria in Maninagar. A 500-metre stretch between St Joseph School and Rajpur Toll Naka will remain closed. Alternate routes include:
From Rajpur Toll Naka to Mariambibi Crossroads, then via Silver Police Chowki to Rakhiyal Main Road
From Anupam Bridge to Silver Police Chowki, then through Apparels Park to Amraiwadi-Rakhiyal Road
From Mariambibi Circle, turning left at Anupam Cinema to reach Rakhiyal-Amraiwadi Main Road.
