Jamnagar: The Railway Board has given the green light for the final location survey for a proposed 45-kilometre railway line linking Saradiya and Wansjaliya, aimed at connecting remote areas in Junagadh and Jamnagar districts.

According to Atul Kumar Tripathi, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Bhavnagar Division, the new line is set to boost industrial growth, social development, and economic activity across the Saurashtra region. It will also strengthen the region’s integration with the national railway network, improving connectivity for passengers and freight alike.

Tripathi explained that the route would offer a shorter alternative for trains travelling to Somnath, Dwarka, Okha, and Porbandar, while also providing better access to major pilgrimage centres such as Girnar, Somnath, and Dwarka.

Saradiya is located in Manavadar taluka of Junagadh district, while Wansjaliya lies in Jamnagar district, approximately 34 km from Porbandar. Wansjaliya station already accommodates both passenger and express trains.

As per the plan, mapping of land, geographical surveys, alignment planning, and related administrative arrangements are expected to be completed by December. A detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared between January and March 2026. Funding allocation for the project is anticipated in the Union Budget for 2026–27. The process of land acquisition and issuing tenders is planned between April and December 2026, with construction likely to begin in 2027.
