Gujarat completes 63% of average monsoon rainfall as of August 1

Gandhinagar: As of 6 AM today, the state of Gujarat has received 554.93 mm of rainfall, which constitutes 62.93% of its average annual rainfall for the season.

According to data from the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), among the regions, South Gujarat—as usual—recorded the highest rainfall with 997.07 mm, completing 66.93% of its seasonal average. Following South Gujarat is the East-Central region, which received 521.86 mm and completed 64.84% of its seasonal rainfall. North Gujarat recorded 469.94 mm of rainfall, accounting for 65.38% of its average, followed by the Saurashtra region, which recorded 411.96 mm—55.09% of its seasonal average. Meanwhile, the Kutch region has received 310.00 mm of rainfall so far, completing 64.16% of its average seasonal total.

Among the districts, Botad, Bhavnagar, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Kheda, Anand, and Tapi have recorded over 75% of their seasonal average rainfall. In contrast, Rajkot, Amreli, and Gir Somnath are the only districts that have completed less than 50% of their seasonal rainfall.

The SEOC report also notes that among the districts, Valsad has received the highest rainfall at nearly 1501 mm, followed by Dang with 1360 mm. Other districts in the top five are Navsari (1174 mm), Surat (1068 mm), and Tapi (1038 mm)—all located in the South Gujarat region.

Notably, only 45 talukas received light rain yesterday, with Songadh in Tapi recording the highest at 15 mm. The IMD has also reported only light rainfall spells in the state for the current week. DeshGujarat
