Gandhinagar: Responding positively to the representations made by fishermen’s associations, the Gujarat Government today announced that for the upcoming fishing season starting from August 16 in the state, diesel distribution for fishing boats will commence from August 11 itself.

In this context, Fisheries Minister Raghavji Patel stated that, as per the circular issued by the Gujarat Government, the new fishing season is set to begin on August 16. Generally, the state government starts distributing diesel for fishing boats on the day the season begins. However, this often leads to heavy boat traffic at ports on the first day and causes various inconveniences for fishermen. Therefore, several fishermen leaders and organizations from different parts of Gujarat had requested the government to allow diesel distribution in advance.

Considering the merit of these representations, the state government has taken this important decision on a priority basis. To ensure that fishermen do not face any difficulties at the beginning of the season, diesel distribution will begin five days in advance, i.e., from August 11 itself, the Minister added. DeshGujarat
