Gandhinagar: In a significant administrative move on Monday, the Gujarat government carried out a large-scale reshuffle in the police department, transferring 105 IPS (Indian Police Service) and SPS (State Police Service) officers across the state. The long-awaited decision comes just ahead of major festivals like Ganeshotsav and Navratri, aiming to bolster law-and-order arrangements.

The exercise is seen as an attempt to inject renewed energy into key positions, as several officers who had been serving in the same postings for prolonged periods have now been reassigned. The reshuffle has also resulted in several promotions, reflecting the strategic deployment of officers in larger and more challenging districts.

Among the key changes, Dr. Karanraj Vaghela, a 2012-batch IPS officer, has been moved from SP, Valsad, to DCP, Economic Wing, Surat City, while his batchmate S.V. Parmar has been shifted from DCP Zone-1, Rajkot City, to take charge as Commandant, SRPF Group 15, Mehsana. Rahul Tripathi, formerly SP, Morbi, has been appointed DCP, Special Operations Group (SOG), Ahmedabad City, and Rohan Anand has been transferred from SP, Vadodara District, to the Anti-Economic Wing of CID Crime in Gandhinagar.

Prashant Sumbe of the 2015 batch has been elevated from SP, Narmada, to SP, Banaskantha, a larger and more demanding district, regarded as a promotion. Likewise, 2017-batch officer Abhay Soni moves from DCP Zone-2, Vadodara City, to DIG, Western Railway, Vadodara. Sushil Agrawal, also from the 2017 batch, has been posted as SP, Vadodara District, after serving as SP, Navsari. Rahul Patel, another 2017-batch officer, takes charge as SP, Navsari, after being transferred from Tapi-Vyara.

Meanwhile, 2018 batch officer Safeen Hasan, who was serving as DCP, Traffic, Ahmedabad, has been appointed as the new SP of Mahisagar District.
