New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared the promotion of two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to the rank of Special Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
As per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Manoj Shashidhar, a 1994-batch IPS officer of the Gujarat cadre and currently Additional Director in the CBI, has been elevated as Special Director. He will serve in the role until his retirement on November 30, 2030, or until further orders, whichever comes first.
Similarly, Sampat Meena, a 1994-batch IPS officer of the Jharkhand cadre, who is also working as Additional Director in the agency, has been promoted to Special Director. She will remain in the position until her superannuation on March 31, 2031, or until further orders.
The decision comes as the government has restored the posts of Special Director, which were earlier functioning at the level of Additional Director.
Notably, Shashidhar has previously held positions as DCP (Crime Branch), Inspector General of Gandhinagar Range, and Police Commissioner of Vadodara. DeshGujarat
