Vadodara: Two police personnel posted at Chhanni Police Station have been suspended, and a departmental inquiry has been ordered against them for allegedly misappropriating ₹50 lakh from a car intercepted near Ranoli on September 10.
Head Constable Ramesh Morwadia and LRD Constable Shravansinh Vaghela were on duty when they stopped a vehicle carrying ₹3.5 crore in cash. The driver reportedly informed them that the money belonged to an angadia firm and was being transported to Rajkot. The two officers allegedly siphoned off ₹50 lakh from the consignment before allowing the car to continue its journey. The angadia firm later lodged a complaint with Chhanni police.
During the subsequent inquiry, the police recovered the missing cash from the two accused, who have now been transferred to the city police headquarters. A departmental investigation has been initiated as per the orders of City Police Commissioner Narasimha Komar. DeshGujarat
