The Lok Sabha was today adjourned till noon after BJP members rushed to the well waving placards created uproar over the “undemocratic” appointment of Lokayukta in Gujarat by “Congress backed” Governor Kamla Beniwal.

Harin Pathak (BJP) stood up and said he had given a notice for suspension of Question Hour to discuss the matter.

BJP members waved placards that read “Dual policy on Gujarat will not be tolerated”, “Recall Gujarat governor”, “murder of democracy” and “Rajyapal Bhawan has become Congress Bhawan (Governor’s House has become Congress Bhawan).

Congress members were also seen waving photographs of murdered BJP leader Haren Pandya, whose alleged killers were acquitted by the Gujarat High Court yesterday.

SP members led by Shailendra Kumar also marched to the well raising slogans which were not clearly heard in the din.

Speaker Meira Kumar, who had taken up the first question, adjourned the House till noon as the din refused to die down.

The Gujarat Governor had appointed RA Mehta as Lokayukta without consulting the Modi government. BJP claims this is violation of Article 163 of the Constitution which states that the Governor should act on the advice of the Council of Ministers.
