DMRC inks pact to build AI-powered cargo evacuation system at Kandla port
October 29, 2025
New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday signed an agreement to develop a real-time automated cargo evacuation system, the Electronic Freight Transit System (e-FTS), at Kandla in Gujarat — marking its foray into the port logistics sector.
The MoU was signed between the DMRC, Deendayal Port Authority, Umeandus Technology Pvt Ltd, and Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML).
As part of the plan, DMRC will operate the pilot project for 25 years during its Operations and Maintenance phase. The detailed roles of each partner will be defined in a forthcoming ‘Definitive Agreement’.
The e-FTS, designed for port logistics, will use artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, and IoT technologies to boost efficiency, cut costs, and ensure sustainable cargo handling. The system is modular and can be replicated at other ports or industrial sites based on specific needs. DeshGujarat
