Vadodara cop, two others booked for assaulting man, setting his scooter on fire

Vadodara: A police constable posted at Raopura police station and two of his friends were arrested on Friday for allegedly assaulting a 22-year-old man and setting his scooter ablaze at Navlakhi Compound. The victim, a resident of Dabhoi, was also reportedly threatened by the trio.
According to police, around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, the victim Sarfaraz Gafur Garasiya was sitting on his scooter with a woman when constable Nilesh Baraiya approached him, accompanied by Bhautik Bhil and Chatur Baraiya. Introducing himself as a police officer, Nilesh demanded the man’s driving licence, which he failed to produce.
Nilesh then took the victim and the woman aside and allegedly assaulted him after sending his friends away. Later, Bhautik and Chatur approached, claiming they would help retrieve the scooter, but attacked him again. When Garasia returned with his friends, he found his scooter had been set on fire.
