Minimum temperatures dip below normal across Gujarat: Ahmedabad at 15.3°C, Vadodara at 14°C

Ahmedabad: Winter seems to be setting in across Gujarat as both day and night temperatures continued to fall on Saturday, November 9, following a cooler Friday.

According to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) 8:30 a.m. report, the state witnessed dry weather, with no rainfall recorded in the past 24 hours. Ahmedabad recorded a maximum temperature of 31.2°C, slightly up from Friday’s 30.8°C, but the night-time minimum remained low at 15.3°C, nearly 2.8°C below normal. Friday night had already seen a sharp drop to 14.7°C, indicating a sustained chill over the city.

Other major cities showed a similar trend. Vadodara’s maximum temperature on Saturday fell to 30.8°C, 3.7°C below normal, while the minimum was 14°C, almost 5°C below normal, colder than Friday’s 15.6°C. Rajkot recorded a marginal rise in daytime temperature to 33.6°C, but the minimum dropped further to 15.5°C, a 4°C dip from normal. Gandhinagar, one of the coldest regions, recorded a minimum of 14.5°C, while the daytime temperature remained below normal at 31.2°C, highlighting the persistent cool spell.

Northern and coastal towns also felt the winter nip. Naliya reported a minimum of 14.2°C, lower than Friday’s 15.4°C, while Deesa’s night temperature fell to 15.5°C, and Porbandar recorded 16.7°C, both showing a clear dip compared to the previous day. Even coastal Veraval, traditionally milder, saw its minimum drop from 20.8°C on Friday to 19.7°C on Saturday.

Interestingly, Surat, which being a coastal city usually does not witness such cold, has been feeling the chill, with the minimum temperature falling 3.4°C below normal to 17°C.

The IMD attributed the temperature decline to prevailing northeasterly to easterly winds and warned that minimum temperatures could fall another 1–2°C over the next two days, intensifying the winter chill across Gujarat. DeshGujarat
