November 13, 2025
Gandhinagar: Reiterating his firm stance on maintaining the highest quality standards in the construction of roads and bridges across Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed commissioners and deputy commissioners of urban local bodies to conduct on-site inspections daily and submit detailed ground reports by November 30.
Chairing a high-level review meeting on Thursday afternoon, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure strict quality control and accountability in all ongoing and upcoming projects. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai, Chief Secretary M.K. Das, and senior secretaries, while commissioners, mayors, and regional municipal commissioners of major cities joined through video conferencing.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister issued clear instructions that any compromise in the quality of road works will invite stringent action. He noted that three contractors have recently been blacklisted for substandard work, and punitive measures, including the blacklisting of over 13 additional contractors, have been implemented this year under his direct orders.
He also made it clear that if roads develop damage or cracks during the maintenance or guarantee period, immediate legal action must be taken against the responsible contractors, including blacklisting. DeshGujarat
