Gujarat plans to start 24×7 helpline number for power outages

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Energy and Petrochemicals Department, which manages the power supply across the state, is preparing to launch a 24×7 unified fault-reporting helpline.

Under the new mechanism, consumers will be able to dial one common number, and their complaints will be automatically routed to field-level technical teams for immediate action, ensuring faster responses during power outages.

According to Minister of State for Energy and Petrochemicals Kaushik Vekaria, the department has planned a single helpline number for all power utilities such as PGVCL, MGVCL, UGVCL, etc. Any citizen can call to report an outage, and the details will be retrieved using their registered mobile number or service number. The complaint will be centrally logged and instantly shared with all relevant authorities and field technicians so it can be resolved quickly.

This 24×7 centralized system is essential for smoother grievance redressal. DeshGujarat
