Gujarat police completes 100-hour verification of 31,834 ‘anti-national’ elements: DGP

Gujarat: In a major security initiative, Gujarat Police has completed door-to-door verification of 31,834 individuals associated with anti-national activities over the past 30 years, an official statement said.

The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of State Police Chief Vikas Sahay as part of a state-wide vigilance drive following the Gujarat ATS action against anti-national elements and the recent bomb blast in Delhi.

On November 17, Sahay convened a high-level meeting with police chiefs of all cities and districts, directing them to prepare detailed dossiers by conducting intensive verification of all individuals arrested for suspected anti-national activities in the last 30 years within 100 hours.

Following his instructions, the state police completed this result-oriented task on time. The Gujarat Police reviewed records from the past three decades and conducted door-to-door verification of 31,834 accused, the statement said.

According to the police, the verification focused on individuals involved in serious offenses under laws such as the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA), NDPS Act, Arms Act, Explosives Act, and cases of fake Indian currency. Officers collected updated information regarding the accused’s current activities and employment.

DGP Sahay stated that out of the total, 11,880 individuals (approximately 37%) were located, and dossiers for all of them have been completed. Additionally, 2,326 accused are deceased, 3,744 have changed addresses, which will be followed up at their new locations, and 4,506 are from outside Gujarat.

“The first phase of verification has been successfully completed,” said Sahay. “In the second phase, we will take intensive action by preparing special SOPs for tracking accused from outside the state and completing their dossiers, ensuring permanent and robust control over anti-national elements.” DeshGujarat
