Rajkot-Toronto flight woes: Air India ordered to pay ₹75,000 to passengers

Rajkot: The Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed Air India to compensate three passengers Rs 25,000 each with interest for failing to provide proper seating and working in-flight entertainment on flights between Rajkot and Toronto. The airline was also ordered to pay Rs 25,000 toward legal expenses.

Binay Parsana had booked return tickets in May 2024 for himself, his spouse, and a six-year-old child, paying Rs 5.26 lakh to sit together on the 14-hour journey. Instead, they were given separate, poor-quality seats, and the entertainment system failed on two of the four flights.

Air India had initially offered Rs 6,000 per passenger, which the complainant rejected. The forum confirmed the deficiency in service and ruled the total compensation of Rs 75,000 with 6% interest from March 12, rising to 9% if delayed. DeshGujarat
