Surendranagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today caught a police constable red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹30,000 near the PGVCL office gate at Ambedkar Circle in Dhrangadhra.
According to ACB officials, the complainant’s son had been arrested in a POCSO and rape case. The accused, Mangilal Kalubhai Padhiya, a Class-3 police constable posted at Dhrangadhra City Police Station, claimed that he had helped the complainant earlier and would continue to assist during the court proceedings. In return, he allegedly demanded an illegal gratification of ₹30,000.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the Surendranagar ACB. After verifying the allegations, officials organised a trap. During the operation, the accused engaged in a conversation with the complainant and accepted the bribe amount of ₹30,000, following which he was immediately arrested. The entire amount was recovered on the spot. DeshGujarat
