Gandhinagar: Gujarat Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Jethabhai Ahir (Bharwad) has resigned from his position, citing his busy schedule and commitments to other responsibilities.
The resignation was submitted at the residence of the Assembly Speaker in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, State BJP President Jagdishbhai Vishwakarma, and State General Secretary (Organisation) Ratnakar. Assembly Speaker Shankarbhai accepted the resignation.
Addressing the media, Spokesperson Minister Jitubhai Vaghani stated that Gujarat Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Jethabhai Ahir has resigned from the position of Deputy Speaker due to his busy schedule and multiple responsibilities. “Jethabhai Ahir is a dedicated cooperative leader associated with Panchmahal Dairy, NAFED, and other cooperative institutions. Due to the burden of work and his busy schedule, he had previously raised the issue several times within the party. Accordingly, the party accepted his request, and his resignation was accepted. Jethabhai Ahir voluntarily submitted his resignation today in a cordial and harmonious manner,” the minister said.
“He is also serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly alongside being a cooperative leader, so he will continue to discharge his responsibilities effectively. Additionally, Jethabhai Ahir’s guidance will continue to be available to the party, in public life, and in the cooperative sector whenever needed,” the minister added.
Ahir, six-time MLA from the Shehra constituency in Panchmahal district since 1998, had earlier served as Deputy Speaker from 27 September 2021 to 8 December 2022, and again from 20 December 2022 until his resignation today. With Ahir stepping down, the Deputy Speaker’s post in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly now falls vacant. DeshGujarat
