ACB Gujarat nabs cop in bribe case in Surat

Surat: In a trap operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today caught a police personnel red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹30,000 in the Kadodara GIDC area of Surat district.

The accused, Sheetalbhai Natvarbhai Prajapati (50), is a Head Constable posted at Vareli Beat under Kadodara GIDC Police Station.

According to ACB officials, the complainant, who had previously been involved in the liquor business but is no longer engaged in it, alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of ₹30,000 despite there being no ongoing illegal activity.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB and lodged a formal complaint. Acting on this, the ACB laid a trap. During the operation, the accused held a conversation with the complainant and accepted the bribe amount of ₹30,000, following which he was immediately caught red-handed.
