January 02, 2026
Ahmedabad: Minimum temperatures across Gujarat remained above normal on Friday, with major cities recording relatively mild winter nights. However, after a dip a day earlier, the mercury rose during the night following a few rain showers that lashed parts of the state.
According to today’s weather report by the Indian Meteorological Department, in Ahmedabad the minimum temperature settled at 15.3°C, which is 3°C above normal, but a significant fall from 18.9°C recorded the previous night. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 27.7°C, close to seasonal averages.
Surat also experienced warmer-than-usual conditions, with the minimum temperature recorded at 17.4°C, 2.2°C above normal, while the maximum stood at 27.8°C, slightly below normal. High humidity levels persisted, especially during the morning hours.
In Vadodara, the minimum temperature stood at 16.8°C, which is 3.9°C above normal, one of the highest departures among major cities. The maximum temperature was recorded at 28.4°C, marginally below normal.
Rajkot reported a minimum temperature of 14.0°C, about 1.5°C above normal, while the maximum temperature reached 28.9°C, close to the seasonal average.
Across other parts of the state, Naliya recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 10.8°C, though even this remained above normal. Coastal stations such as Diu, Daman, Veraval and Okha continued to record higher night temperatures due to moisture and sea influence.
Meteorological officials noted that minimum temperatures were appreciably to markedly above normal in most parts of Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch, suggesting an absence of cold wave conditions for the time being. Stable weather with dry conditions is expected to continue in the coming days. DeshGujarat
