Visnagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat on Friday trapped and arrested the in-charge Commanding Officer of the Home Guard Unit, Visnagar, while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2,000 for processing transfer-related paperwork.
The accused, Hareshkumar Mangaldas Rathod, is posted as In-charge Officer Commanding of the Home Guard Unit, Visnagar, in Mehsana district.
According to the ACB, the complainant had earlier applied for a transfer from the Home Guard Unit, Visnagar, to the Home Guard Unit, Unjha. Although the transfer was approved, Rathod allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹2,000 to hand over the transfer file and related documents. Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and caught Rathod red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe amount. The tainted cash of ₹2,000 was recovered from the accused during the operation. Further investigation in the case is underway. DeshGujarat
