Vadodara: Five Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs from Vadodara district have jointly written to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, alleging arbitrariness by government officials and complaining that public issues raised by elected representatives are being ignored.
In the letter, Dabhoi MLA Shailesh Mehta, Savli MLA Ketan Inamdar, Waghodia MLA Dharmendrasinh Vaghela, Karjan MLA Akshay Patel and Padra MLA Chaitanyasinh Jhala have urged the chief minister to take strict action against officials accused of neglecting people’s grievances. The development has given fresh momentum to long-standing complaints that bureaucrats under the BJP government are not paying heed to elected leaders.
The MLAs have expressed strong dissatisfaction over what they describe as the indifferent attitude of officials towards public work. The letter states that even routine matters of common citizens are not being addressed and that “getting small tasks done at government offices has become like fighting a war.” The letter names senior district officials, including the Collector, District Development Officer, Superintendent of Police and Police Commissioner.
The legislators have further alleged that senior officials are presenting a “rosy picture” of the situation to the government through video conferences while remaining disconnected from ground realities. According to the MLAs, vital issues related to local conditions, geographical challenges and public grievances are being ignored, resulting in misleading information reaching the government and tarnishing its image.
Sources said the Vadodara MLAs had earlier made verbal representations to the chief minister on the same issue. However, the joint written complaint has now sparked a political stir in Gujarat, highlighting growing friction between elected representatives and the administrative machinery in the district.
