Missing for 12 Years, Man Reunited with Family by Dang Police Under Project Milap
January 23, 2026
Dang: A young man who had left his home 12 years ago due to personal distress while pursuing his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) studies has been reunited with his family, thanks to the efforts of the Dang Police under their humanitarian initiative, Project Milap.
Sharing the information on social media, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said that although many years had passed since the youth went missing, his family never lost hope of seeing him again.
That long wait finally ended in Dang district, where the police successfully traced the man and facilitated his reunion with his family through sustained efforts, sensitivity, and patience.
“This is not just policing. It is a meeting of compassion, perseverance, and hope,” Sanghavi said in his post, while congratulating the Dang Police for their committed and humane work.
The emotional reunion took place on Friday at Vanachonda village in Waghai taluka of Dang district, where tribal farmer Chatur Chaudhary was reunited with his son Ranjit (33). Emotional scenes were witnessed as the family met after more than a decade.
The Dang Police traced Ranjit to Gandhidham in Kutch. He was just 21 years old when he disappeared from Vapi, where he was enrolled in a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme at a local college. He went missing during his third semester, and his family had informed the police that he had vanished from his hostel.
Though over a decade had passed, as part of a review of long-pending missing cases under Operation Milap, the police revisited old records using updated technological tools and fresh intelligence inputs. These efforts eventually led them to Gandhidham.
During preliminary questioning, it was revealed that Ranjit had been emotionally disturbed after being repeatedly advised to concentrate on his studies, following which he decided to leave home, police said. DeshGujarat
