Bhavnagar: In a major development in the case related to the attack on Navneet Baldhiya in Bagdana village of Bhavnagar, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrests Jayraj Ahir, son of noted folk litterateur Maya Ahir.
Jayraj Ahir is summoned again to the Range IG office this afternoon for recording his statement. The SIT questions him for nearly two hours before placing him under arrest. Tight police security is deployed at the IG office to prevent any untoward incident during the proceedings.
Addressing the press, Bhavnagar Range IG Gautam Parmar said, “You all are aware of the offence registered at Bagdana police station. Earlier, the SIT had initially arrested eight accused, and some other accused have also been arrested subsequently. Based on the statements of all the arrested persons, witness testimonies, and call detail records, Jayraj Ahir was also called to the IG office about three days ago for questioning. After that, the SIT arrested two more accused and took all the evidence into consideration. Since this morning, the SIT has been verifying all the evidence again. At the end of this verification, in order to clarify certain points, Jayraj Ahir was summoned once more. After questioning him on the basis of the summons, the SIT team firmly concluded that there is sufficient preliminary evidence to arrest Jayraj Ahir. Therefore, he has been arrested today.” DeshGujarat
