Alpesh Thakor announces ‘Abhyuday Mahasammelan’ in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Kshatriya Thakor Sena president and BJP MLA Alpesh Thakor has announced a major community programme titled ‘Abhyuday Mahasammelan’, scheduled to be held in Gandhinagar in the early hours of January 27 at around 3:00 am. The unusual midnight timing, he said, is meant to deliver a strong symbolic message of social awakening within the community.

Speaking to the media, Thakor said the Sena was founded with the resolve that the Kshatriya Thakor community must progress shoulder-to-shoulder with other prosperous communities through education, employment, entrepreneurship and agricultural development. He added that one of the organisation’s first objectives was to free the community from addictions and social evils.

“Initially, many questions were raised when we spoke about ending addictions, but ideological movements take time. Through continuous efforts, Gujarat Kshatriya Thakor Sena has brought a major transformation, with nearly 90–95 per cent progress in de-addiction across the community,” Thakor claimed.

He said that as addictions decline, the energy of the youth awakens, and over the past 10–15 years the community has seen a significant rise in interest in education, with parents becoming increasingly alert about their children’s academic future.

Midnight timing meant to convey awakening

Explaining why the event is being organised at 3 am, Thakor said the timing itself carries a message — that the community is no longer “asleep in intoxication,” but has awakened with concern for its children’s future.

“We are not drowned in addictions anymore. We are awake, thinking about education, employment and direction. This programme is meant to show that the community is united and ready to move forward with all sections of society,” he said.

Thakor said the event is expected to receive cooperation not only from the Thakor community but also from Patidar, Brahmin, Rabari, Bharwad, Chaudhary and Rajput communities, who have reportedly come forward to assist with arrangements such as food and refreshments.

He added that over 20 prominent leaders in Gandhinagar taluka have volunteered to arrange snacks and meals for the massive gathering.

Large participation is anticipated, with volunteers expected from nearly 7,000 villages across Gujarat, making the Mahasammelan one of the biggest community gatherings in recent times.

Foundation stone for ₹100-crore ‘Saraswati Dham’

A major highlight of the Mahasammelan will be the foundation-laying ceremony for a massive educational campus named ‘Saraswati Dham’, proposed near Adalaj, with an estimated cost of around ₹100 crore.

Thakor said the Gujarat government has given in-principle approval to allot 11,000 square metres of land for the project at nearly 50 per cent of the market price.

The campus will include:

  • Coaching facilities for UPSC and GPSC

  • A modern library

  • A foreign studies guidance centre

  • Hostel facilities for more than 2,000 students

Thakor said the Sena aims to build strong educational institutions so that future generations can succeed through knowledge and competitive examinations.

Bhoomipujan by children

In a symbolic gesture, the bhoomipujan ceremony will be performed by 11 boys and girls below the age of 10, representing the next generation.

“This is for your future. This is not a competition or show-off, but a struggle for the upliftment of our family and society,” Thakor said.

Political significance ahead of elections

Responding to questions about the Mahasammelan being viewed as a major show of strength ahead of upcoming local body elections and the 2027 Gujarat Assembly elections, Thakor maintained that the gathering is part of a broader ideological movement focused on social reform, education and collective progress.
