GSRDC clears illegal encroachments on Halol–Shamlaji highway
January 28, 2026
Vadodara: To ease traffic congestion on the Halol–Shamlaji highway, the Gujarat State Road Development Corporation (GSRDC) has launched a major drive to remove illegal encroachments in the Shehra area.
Officials said nearly 200 encroachments, including permanent structures and temporary setups, had come up along the stretch between Waghjipur Crossing and Aniyad Crossing, creating frequent bottlenecks due to commercial activity and roadside parking.
After issuing three notices over the past year, several occupants cleared the area voluntarily. On Tuesday, GSRDC, with support from the district administration and the Shehra municipality, began the demolition drive under tight police security. The operation is expected to continue on Wednesday. DeshGujarat
