Cold conditions continue in Gujarat as minimum temperature dips as low as 7°C

Ahmedabad: Minimum temperatures further dipped across several parts of Gujarat on Wednesday, with many districts recording night temperatures below or near normal, according to the weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday morning.

Among major cities, Ahmedabad recorded a minimum temperature of 12.8°C, which was normal for the season, while the maximum temperature stood at 26°C, nearly 2.8°C below normal. Surat registered a minimum temperature of 14.6°C, 0.7°C below normal, with the maximum temperature at 29°C, slightly below the seasonal average.

Vadodara reported a minimum temperature of 13.8°C, marginally 0.2°C above normal, while its maximum temperature remained 2.5°C below normal at 27.6°C. Rajkot witnessed one of the sharpest dips, with the minimum temperature settling at 10.5°C, 2.5°C below normal and the maximum temperature at 28.5°C, recording a significant departure of 4.8°C below normal, indicating an intensified winter chill in the region.

Naliya in Kutch emerged as the coldest location in the state, recording a minimum temperature of 7°C, which was 3.4°C below normal. Bhuj recorded 11.2°C (0.8°C below normal), while Deesa reported 11.3°C, marginally above normal but still chilly.

In the Saurashtra region, Amreli registered a minimum temperature of 11.6°C (0.7°C below normal), Porbandar 12.5°C (1.8°C below normal) and Dwarka 14.1°C, which was 2.5°C below normal. Veraval recorded a minimum temperature of 14.7°C, slightly below normal.

Coastal areas remained comparatively warmer. Bhavnagar reported a minimum temperature of 15.2°C, 0.7°C above normal, while the Union Territory of Daman recorded 15.4°C. Okha recorded the highest night temperature in the state at 18°C, though it was still 0.8°C below normal.

Maximum temperatures across the state remained below normal at most places, with Rajkot showing the highest negative departure of 4.8°C, followed by Amreli (3.9°C below normal) and Porbandar (2.9°C below normal).

No rainfall was reported from any station during the past 24 hours. Weather officials said dry conditions are likely to persist, while cool night temperatures may continue over parts of north Gujarat, Kutch and Saurashtra over the next 24 hours. DeshGujarat
