Minimum temperatures dip across major cities in Gujarat

Surat: After nearly a week of relatively mild winter conditions, several parts of Gujarat recorded a noticeable drop in minimum temperatures on Sunday night, according to the weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) this morning. However, despite the fall in the mercury, temperatures across most cities remained above normal.

In the state’s key cities, Ahmedabad recorded a minimum temperature of 16.2°C and a maximum of 32.6°C, while Surat saw 18.1°C at night with the daytime temperature rising to 34.2°C. Vadodara registered 16.4°C as the minimum and 33.4°C as the maximum, whereas Rajkot reported 17.2°C during the night and one of the highest daytime readings at 34.2°C, all remaining above normal for the season.

Elsewhere, Naliya recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 11.2°C, close to normal levels. Cooler nights were also observed in Deesa (15.0°C), Gandhinagar (15.5°C), and Bhuj (16.8°C). In contrast, coastal centres such as Okha (19.2°C), Dwarka (19.1°C), and Veraval (20.9°C) stayed relatively warmer due to maritime influence.

Daytime temperatures remained elevated across several regions, including Kandla (33.7°C), the Union Territory of Daman (33.6°C), and Bhuj (33.5°C). Morning relative humidity ranged between 54% and 90% across reporting stations, followed by a noticeable drop in the evening, particularly in interior districts.

No rainfall was reported from any observation centre in Gujarat during the period. The trend indicates a brief intensification of night-time chill alongside persistently warm days, suggesting a gradual seasonal transition in the coming days. DeshGujarat
