February 11, 2026
Surat: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has announced that the Jahangirpura–Dabholi Bridge will remain closed for 78 days, from February 11 to April 30, to carry out essential repair and maintenance work.
The civic body periodically conducts structural audits of all bridges in the city. During a recent inspection, the Jahangirpura–Dabholi Bridge was found to require repairs. Based on the technical assessment by the municipal bridge cell, it has been decided to completely shut the bridge to vehicular traffic during the repair period.
Barricading work has already begun, and the bridge will be fenced on both sides to ensure safety.
Repair Work Details
Officials said that coating and maintenance work will be undertaken during the closure to strengthen the structure and enhance its durability. The move is aimed at ensuring long-term safety for commuters using the bridge.
Alternative Routes for Motorists
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the closure period:
-
Commuters traveling from Rander–Adajan towards Dabholi can take a right turn at Ramnagar four-way, proceed via the causeway, and then take the designated left route towards Dabholi.
-
Those heading to Dabholi from Rander–Adajan can also use the same diversion via Ramnagar four-way and the causeway route.
-
Drivers coming from Adajan Patiya can reach Dabholi by descending from the Chandrashekhar Azad River Bridge and then taking a left turn from the Ved Darwaza junction.
The municipal corporation has appealed to citizens to cooperate and follow traffic diversions to avoid inconvenience during the repair period. DeshGujarat
