Sri Lanka to Start Flight to Gujarat this Year; Announces Country’s Tourism Minister

Ahmedabad: Sri Lanka where the number of Gujarati tourists has seen increase in recent years, is planning to launch a flight connecting Sri Lanka to Gujarat.
According to the report in Colombo Times, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe has stated that the country is planning to start a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Colombo in India through Sri Lankan Airlines. He also mentioned that the plan is to start the flights from April this year.
This news is also highlighted in other Sri Lankan media like Ada Derana, emphasizing benefits for tourism, connectivity, and especially Sri Lankan devotees traveling to religious sites in Gujarat (Ahmedabad’s region). The route aims to strengthen bilateral ties, boost pilgrimages, and support Sri Lanka’s goal of increasing Indian visitors (India is already the top source market).
