Speeding car hits cop during NSG mock drill in Ahmedabad; driver arrested

Ahmedabad: A serious incident has come to light in which a speeding car ran over a police constable on duty beneath the Thaltej Metro Station on the city’s S.G. Highway. Bodakdev Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 3:00 am today, when personnel from Bodakdev Police Station had set up a blockade as part of a mock drill being carried out by the National Security Guard (NSG) beneath the Thaltej Metro Station. During this time, a white Hyundai i10 (GJ-01-KC-8215) was seen approaching at high speed from the Zydus Char Rasta side on S.G. Highway.
Police constable Sardarsinh Thibubha Solanki (37) signalled the vehicle to stop. However, instead of halting, the driver allegedly rammed the constable. The impact threw him into the air, causing him to hit the bonnet before falling onto the road.
Constable Sardarsinh sustained serious injuries, including a fracture below the left knee, a fracture in the left thigh, and minor injuries to other parts of the body. He was immediately shifted to the emergency ward of Zydus Hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, the driver attempted to flee. However, police personnel present at the scene chased and intercepted the vehicle. The accused, identified as Yash Alpeshbhai Soni, has been arrested. According to the police, the accused did not possess a driving licence and allegedly attempted to escape to avoid being caught, which led to the incident. He works at a spa in Shilaj.
Bodakdev Police have registered a case under BNS Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) along with Sections 177, 184, and 134(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation is being carried out by Police Sub-Inspector Y. J. Chauhan. DeshGujarat
