Ahmedabad Police Seize Over ₹42 Crore Worth of Liquor and Narcotics in Two Years

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Police seized foreign liquor, country liquor, drugs and other narcotics worth over ₹42 crore during the two-year period ending December 31, 2025, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi informed the State Assembly.
The information was furnished by the state government in response to a query seeking police station-wise details of seizures between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2025.
During the period from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024, enforcement agencies carried out extensive action against illegal liquor and narcotics. Foreign liquor worth ₹6.12 crore, country liquor worth ₹83.55 lakh, drugs valued at ₹16.66 crore, and other intoxicating substances worth ₹89.53 lakh were seized. The total seizure for 2024 amounted to ₹24.52 crore.
Similarly, from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025, authorities intensified their drive, seizing foreign liquor worth ₹11.85 crore, country liquor worth ₹1.77 crore, drugs worth ₹3.86 crore, and other narcotic substances valued at ₹1.68 lakh. The total seizure for 2025 stood at ₹17.51 crore.
Overall, combining both years, the total value of liquor and narcotics seized amounted to ₹42.03 crore, reflecting sustained enforcement efforts to curb illegal trade and substance abuse.

Highest Seizures
In 2024, the highest seizure of foreign liquor was reported under Sola Police Station limits, while Sardar Nagar Police Station recorded the maximum seizure of country liquor. The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) Police Station accounted for the highest recovery of narcotic substances during the year.
In 2025, Sardar Nagar Police Station reported the highest seizures of both foreign and country liquor. The DCB Police Station again registered the maximum seizure of narcotic substances.
Trends and Observations
While the total value of foreign and country liquor seized increased significantly in 2025 compared to 2024, the value of drugs seized declined. Enforcement action remained widespread, covering nearly all police stations across the city.
Police stations such as DCB, Sardar Nagar, Sarkhej, Naroda, Ramol and Odhav consistently reported high seizure volumes, indicating focused drives in identified hotspots.
The government clarified that the figures are based on cases registered and property seized up to December 31, 2025.
Arrests in Ahmedabad and Surat
Meanwhile, in reply to another question, the Dy CM stated that during the one-year period ending December 31, 2025, a total of 24,783 accused were arrested in connection with prohibition and narcotics-related offences, while 315 accused remain absconding.
Additionally, disciplinary action has been initiated against 40 police officers and 574 police personnel, including inter-district transfers, suspension from duty, monetary penalties, and withholding of increments.
Seizures in Surat
Surat also witnessed major drug seizures, with the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) and Saroli Police Station recording the highest monetary valuations.
