Bihar man booked for slapping CISF ASI at Ahmedabad airport

Ahmedabad: A 49-year-old Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was allegedly assaulted by a man at the staff entry gate of Terminal 2 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred during the officer’s duty hours between 2 pm and 9 pm. According to a complaint lodged with the Airport police station, the ASI was stationed at the international departure staff gate when a man dressed in brown trousers and a grey T-shirt approached the entry point at around 2:53 pm.

When asked to present an entry pass, the individual reportedly failed to produce any authorisation and admitted that he did not possess one. The CISF officer subsequently refused him entry in accordance with security protocol.

Police said the man then allegedly slapped the officer and attempted to flee. However, the ASI, with assistance from other CISF personnel on duty, chased and apprehended him.

The accused was taken to the Airport police station for questioning, where he identified himself as Mohammad Zakir Sheikh, a resident of Machhipith Market in the Rakhial area of Ahmedabad. During interrogation, he was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his presence at the airport.

Police contacted his brother using a mobile number found in his possession. The brother informed officers that Zakir had left home around 10 am without informing family members.

An offence has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of duty and voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from performing official duties. Further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
