Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has informed the Legislative Assembly that the work of collecting toll (user fee) on the Ahmedabad–Mehsana toll road has been entrusted to Gujarat Road and Infrastructure Company Limited (GRICL) for a 30-year period.
In a written reply to a question, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who also holds the Roads and Buildings portfolio, stated that the contract for the collection of toll from vehicles on the Ahmedabad–Mehsana road was awarded to Gujarat Road and Infrastructure Company Limited for the period from February 20, 2003, to February 19, 2033.
Providing revenue details, the government clarified that the agency collects a “user fee” and not a toll tax. Over the past two years, the company collected ₹1,323.88 crore in 2024 and ₹1,644.60 crore in 2025.
The government further informed that the current user fee collection period will end on February 19, 2033. In response to a query on whether any orders have been issued to stop collection after the expiry of the concession period, the government stated that the question does not arise at present.
