Gujarat Police Begin 15-Day Special Drive Against Traffic Rule Violators

Ahmedabad: Motorists violating traffic rules will face strict action as a statewide special traffic enforcement drive begins today (February 25) and will continue till March 10.

State Police Chief Dr. K.L.N. Rao has directed all Police Commissioners and District Police Chiefs to conduct an intensive drive to curb rising road accidents across the state. Traffic police and local police teams will jointly patrol roads and initiate action against violators.

The drive will target offences such as riding without helmets, vehicles without number plates, cars with black-tinted glass, driving on the wrong side, overloading of passenger vehicles, and drunken driving.

According to police officials, although special enforcement drives are conducted periodically, the number of road accidents has increased this year compared to last year. The latest campaign aims to strictly enforce provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and bring down accident figures.

Authorities have been instructed to compile daily reports of action taken in cities and districts in a prescribed format and submit them to the State Police Chief’s office via email.

Officials have appealed to citizens to comply with traffic rules to avoid penalties and ensure road safety. DeshGujarat
