Shahibaug Underpass to Remain Partially Shut from March 19-28 for Western Railway Work

Ahmedabad: The Western Railway will undertake track strengthening and maintenance work over the Shahibaug Underbridge from March 19 to March 28, 2026, prompting temporary traffic restrictions in the area.
According to officials, the work includes strengthening both the upper and lower sections of the railway track, removing worn-out plates, and installing new ones to ensure safety and durability.
During the maintenance period, all three entry and exit routes of the Shahibaug Underbridge will remain closed to vehicular traffic during specific hours. The restrictions will be in place from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm during the day and from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 am.
Traffic Diversions
Authorities have issued the following alternative routes to manage traffic flow:
From Delhi Darwaza/Subhash Bridge side towards Airport–Gandhinagar:
Vehicles can take the riverfront route near Subhash Bridge, proceed via the riverfront road to Dafnala, and continue towards the Airport and Gandhinagar.
From Airport–Gandhinagar towards city areas:
Traffic can use the riverfront road and divert towards key city routes. Commuters heading to Asarwa, Girdharnagar, Delhi Darwaza, or Kalupur can use Shahibaug main roads via Mahapragyaji Bridge.
From Girdharnagar–Asarwa towards Airport–Gandhinagar:
Vehicles can travel via Shahibaug, Anekshi, Gayatri Mandir, Army Cantonment, Airport Road, and Indira Bridge to reach Gandhinagar and the airport.
