March 19, 2026
Gandhinagar: More than 20 restaurants of international standard will start operations in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) within the next one year, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi announced while addressing the inaugural session of the “IFSCA Talent Vista Summit-2026” held in Gandhinagar.
The event was attended by Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary P. K. Mishra, GIFT City Chairman Uday Kotak, industry leaders, vice chancellors of universities, and students from across the country.
Speaking at the summit, Sanghavi said the government is working on a comprehensive “Working and Living in GIFT City” model to provide world-class facilities for professionals employed in the financial hub. He said the addition of international restaurants and lifestyle facilities is aimed at improving evening life and social infrastructure for young professionals working in the city.
Recalling the origin of GIFT City, he said the project was envisioned nearly two decades ago by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on what was then barren land, and today it has emerged as a global financial centre competing with cities such as Singapore, Dubai, London, and New York.
Sanghavi said the success of GIFT City is based on its unified regulatory system under IFSCA, an attractive tax structure, and a strong digital financial ecosystem. He added that institutions such as IIM Ahmedabad, MICA, Nirma University, and National Law University are helping prepare world-class talent for the financial sector, while foreign universities in GIFT City are also contributing to skill development.
Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary P. K. Mishra said GIFT City has become a global financial infrastructure platform and is helping bring financial activities back to India, creating high-value employment opportunities.
Chairman Uday Kotak said GIFT City will play a key role in achieving the vision of Developed India by 2047, citing geopolitical stability, modern infrastructure, and an independent regulatory framework as its major strengths. DeshGujarat
