Ahmedabad: Foreign liquor was seized from the Bopal residence of Sujal Patel, partner of Mayur Dye Chem, during ongoing Income Tax raids on the Gujarat-based chemical manufacturing firm. Following the recovery, Bopal police registered a prohibition offence, confiscated the liquor and arrested Patel.
According to police, the Income Tax Department has been conducting searches at nearly 20 locations linked to Mayur Dye Chem, its partners and associates. During a raid at Patel’s bungalow in Basant Bahar-1, officials found liquor stored inside the house and informed the local police.
A police team reached the spot and carried out seizure proceedings in the presence of independent witnesses. An Income Tax official stated that Indian-made foreign liquor was found during the search. In total, 33 bottles of different brands of liquor worth around ₹1.13 lakh were recovered from the premises.
Police said the liquor was allegedly kept illegally without a valid permit. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Prohibition Act, and further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
