Gujarat Govt Clears 6 Zone Change Proposals Submitted by AUDA
March 27, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government has approved six zone change proposals submitted by the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA), paving the way for major land-use changes in Godhavi, Kathwada, Jamiyatpura, Pardhol and Virochananagar.
The approvals are expected to accelerate urban expansion, industrial growth and infrastructure development in the outskirts of Ahmedabad, particularly towards the Sanand corridor.
Among the proposals, the most significant change has been cleared in Godhavi, where the agricultural zone has been converted into a sports and institutional zone in view of plans to develop large-scale sports infrastructure, linked to future events such as the Commonwealth Games and a possible Olympic bid. The move is expected to strengthen sports facilities in the belt stretching from Bopal to Ghuma.
In Kathwada, land use has been changed from residential to general industrial zone, while in Jamiyatpura, agricultural land has been converted into residential zone. Pardhol has been designated as an education and knowledge hub, where hi-tech institutes, colleges and research centres are expected to come up in the coming years.
In Virochananagar, the agricultural zone has been retained to promote farming activities and support the rural economy in the surrounding areas. DeshGujarat
