IMD forecasts unseasonal rain in these parts of Gujarat on March 29-30

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dry weather across Gujarat for the next two days, with light rain and thundershowers likely at isolated places in North Gujarat and Kutch from March 29, according to the latest mid-day weather bulletin issued on March 27.

As per the forecast, weather remained dry across the Gujarat region, Saurashtra-Kutch, Diu, Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli during the past 24 hours, while temperatures stayed above normal in parts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch. The highest maximum temperature in the state was 39°C at Bhuj, while the lowest minimum temperature was 19.8°C at Keshod.

Rain forecast from March 29 in North Gujarat, Kutch

IMD has predicted light rain or thundershowers at isolated places in Banaskantha and Kutch on March 29, while on March 30, rain with thunderstorm activity is likely in Banaskantha, Patan, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Dahod, Mahisagar and parts of Kutch.
No rainfall activity is expected in the remaining districts during this period.

Thunderstorm warning with gusty winds

The department has issued a warning of light thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph, accompanied by light rain at isolated places in North Gujarat and Kutch during March 29–30.

Possible impacts may include damage to standing crops, breaking of tree branches, minor damage to kutcha structures, and disruption to power and communication lines, the bulletin said. People have been advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms and avoid taking shelter under trees.

Temperature to fall slightly after 24 hours

IMD said no major change in maximum temperature is expected during the next 24 hours, followed by a gradual fall of 2–3°C during the subsequent two days. Minimum temperatures are likely to remain largely unchanged during the next week.

Forecast for Ahmedabad

For Ahmedabad city and adjoining areas, the weather department has predicted mainly clear skies, with maximum temperature around 38°C and minimum around 25°C till March 28.

According to IMD, weather conditions are influenced by an upper-air cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and a fresh western disturbance over the Iran region, which may trigger isolated rain activity over parts of North Gujarat. DeshGujarat
