Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a one-day visit to Gujarat on Tuesday, March 31, during which he will inaugurate and dedicate railway projects worth ₹891 crore to the state under the Ministry of Railways.
The Prime Minister will virtually launch these projects from Vav-Tharad in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. He will also flag off a new train service aimed at improving regional connectivity, enhancing passenger convenience, and boosting economic activity.
Among the key projects, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the 55-km new railway line between Himmatnagar and Khedbrahma, developed at a cost of ₹482 crore. The new line is expected to significantly strengthen connectivity in Sabarkantha district, facilitate faster and affordable travel, and provide improved access between Ahmedabad and Udaipur. It is also likely to enhance access to essential services such as healthcare and education while generating livelihood opportunities for local communities.
In addition, the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation the Kanalus–Jamnagar doubling project (27 km), built at a cost of ₹257 crore, and the Gandhidham–Adipur multitracking project (11 km), constructed at a cost of ₹152 crore. These capacity augmentation initiatives will facilitate smoother and faster train operations, significantly improve freight handling efficiency, and strengthen connectivity to key industrial hubs and ports, including Deendayal Port. They are expected to reduce transit time, lower logistics costs, boost tourism in the region, and support farmers and industries by improving market access.
The Prime Minister will also flag off a new train service from Khedbrahma to Ahmedabad via Himmatnagar, providing direct rail connectivity to the region and making daily commuting more convenient, affordable, and efficient. The service is expected to stimulate local economic activity and tourism. DeshGujarat
